New students may now apply for housing online or by paper for Fall 2012 – Spring 2013. FGCU does not require students to live on campus at any point. Therefore, students interested in living on campus need to submit a housing application in addition to the university application.
We encourage all prospective residents to apply early for housing because demand is high and space is limited. Prospective residents do not need to be accepted to FGCU yet to apply. However, all applicants will need their University Identification Number assigned by Admissions during the application process.
There are three housing areas and several types of housing to choose from. However, please remember there is no guarantee of a space or any specific request type such as roommate or building preference.
Incoming freshmen are encouraged to live in South Village (SoVi), our suite-style residence halls located on campus. There are currently three halls in South Village: Biscayne, Everglades and Palmetto. We will be opening our brand new residence hall, Osprey, for fall 2012 as well. South Village offers the First Year Residential Experience (FYRE) as well. This program is designed to assist first year students with a successful transition into college. For more details on South Village, visit our website.
Transfer students may apply for North Lake Village or West Lake Village. First year students may also apply for North Lake Village.
North Lake Village (NLV) is apartment-style living located on campus. This area includes 4-bedroom units as well as 2-bedroom units. All apartments include a full kitchen, living room and two bathrooms. North Lake Village is also adjacent to the waterfront where residents can take part in various water activities hosted by Campus Recreation. For more details on North Lake Village, visit our website.
West Lake Village (WLV) is our university-owned apartment complex located approximately two miles north of campus. There are 3 bed/3 bath units and 4 bed/4 bath units in the six buildings on the property. All apartments are furnished and offer a full kitchen, private baths and living room. The complex is located next to Gulf Coast Town Center, offering a wide variety of dining, shopping and entertainment. This housing area is reserved for sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students. The agreement for this housing area is a 12 month agreement through Summer 2013. For more information on West Lake Village, visit our website.

Applications are now available for all new residents. Current residents participate in a separate application process referred to as Returning Student Signup. Information on this process will be provided to current residents in early Spring 2012.
