Engineering Students Use Campus Resources to Test Material Properties
Knowing a material’s properties has always been something of paramount importance to any engineering field. A material’s strength, hardness, ductility and other factors are crucial in deciding how and where materials should be used in accordance with the desired purpose. For civil engineers this may be which material is best able to cope with bending and compression in a bridge design or for bio-engineers this may be deciding which material has low wear rate and low reactivity at different pH levels.
