The Engineering Program at Florida Gulf Coast University seeks to facilitate the holistic development of all “Eagles” who are prospective engineers. Therefore, in addition to the dissemination of knowledge through formal classes, students are encouraged to be a part of various student organizations, particularly those with a focus on Engineering. At the beginning of every semester, the college hosts a Meet the Organizations Day, where student’s from the EGS 1006L (Introduction to Engineering) class get the opportunity to explore Holmes Hall and meet with the different clubs, organizations and the advising staff. Some of the organizations on showcase included the Biomedical Engineering Society, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Florida Engineering Society. Through interaction with representatives from the groups, students got a synopsis of each organization’s purpose, projects, events and benefits of becoming a member.
